Sycamore Independent Physicians Testimonial to SBI

Sycamore is a physician recruiting company started by Hamad Husainy and his wife, Kristin, to staff hospitals, prison infirmaries, clinics, and private practices.  Husainy is a practicing physician and wanted to recreate and define the business practice of recruiting in the medical field.  His new model was transparent between parties with a fixed margin; the cost reduced strategy allowed the company to gain market share and compete with the large firms. 

At the inception of Sycamore, Husainy had reservations about starting a business.  The Shoals Business Incubator gave him the opportunity to be surrounded by people in the same situation.  Networking within the SBI allows for the occasion to gain business insight from the staff and other clients.  The staff, especially Executive Director, Giles McDaniel, was a valuable resource.  McDaniel introduced Husainy to Larson Hicks, who later became Sycamore’s Chief Executive Officer.  Hamad said “the incubator creates an inviting atmosphere where you feel like you are networking with other entrepreneurs interested in the greater good.”  McDaniel also encouraged Husainy to enter the inaugural Shoals Alabama Launchpad competition.  After completing the Launchpad application, audition, and competition processes, Sycamore was awarded $27,500 to assist them in their startup efforts.

About nine months ago, Sycamore became a completely remote company which was a strong position for the company with the onset of COVID-19.  With no overhead, the company is strong and growing.  They are a local employer to the Shoals and are about to hire their ninth employee.  Hamad attributes the start of his success to the Shoals Business Incubator.
